Alphabet Mafia welcomes all LGBTIQA+ youth, aged 13+ (and their allies) in Tasmania who are looking for a safe and friendly environment to connect and socialise.

Sorry little buddy, because so much of our activity is based online we have to follow Discord and Minecraft guidelines and both of these things are 13+

Social gatherings are typically held weekly on a Monday, but the schedule may vary. We keep our members updated through Discord.

Alphabet Mafia doesn't have a home base yet, so we meet in places like the PCYC or the Huonville Esplanade. If you want to find out where we are meeting next join the discord!

We organise regular social gatherings, maintain a super active Discord server, and run an active Minecraft realm for our members to engage and have fun together.

At our weekly gatherings we eat, drink, gossip, play games, create art, or read from our curated queer library; we often have community members attend to mentor our youth, share skills, information, and resources.

You can request an invite to our Discord server by clicking the button below, contacting us through our website or our social media channels. We ensure a safe and moderated environment for all members so approval isn't automatic.

Our Minecraft realm is a fun, interactive space where members can play together, build, and bond in a supportive virtual environment. Access to the realm is for members only, so you'll need to register with us to receive a join invite.

Understanding the ABCs of LGBTIQA+ can be daunting sometimes, but don't stress - we've created a handy dictionary for the most commonly used words and acronyms you might find in the community.

Our primary focus is on LGBTIQA+ youth, but allies who support our mission are welcome to engage respectfully and support the community. If you're an adult who would like to impart skills, offer services, or provide queer representation, get in touch - we would love to have you!

Nope, joining Alphabet Mafia is free. We aim to create an accessible and welcoming space for all LGBTIQA+ youth without financial barriers.

We provide a supportive community, peer connections, and resources aimed at promoting mental well-being among our members. Mafia is run by a youth worker and a disability support worker with lived experience of queerness and disability. Once we have secured a place of our own we will be facilitating outreach health services so our youth have specialised professional support that is easier to access.

Lots of ways; you can volunteer, you can promote us to your networks; donate resources (books, art supplies, board games, etc); partner with us to offer outreach services; if you run print or radio media, advertise Mafia through promotional materials or interviews.

OR you can help us financially through Woolworths vouchers, donations of cash to our bank account, or helping us negotiate the leasing of a commercial property in Huonville.
